Specialized Associate Degree in Information Technology

Objective: In our Associate degree program, students gain knowledge of computer hardware and a wide array of network technologies including Microsoft Small Business Server 2008, which is intended for companies with up to 75 users – representing the majority of California’s North Bay employers.

Graduates can be ready for entry-level positions as information technicians, network administrators or systems engineers – continually growing industries that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, offer great career outlooks and room for advancement.

Upon completion of 1,325 hours of core classes, graduates choose a 425-hour concentration in one of four areas:

  • Microsoft: Students prepare for six Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist exams (formerly MCP) and the Microsoft Certified IT Professional – Server and Enterprise Administrator exams (formerly MCSA and MCSE). Exam fees, ranging from $60 to $225, are included in the program costs.
     
  • Security: Students prepare for Security Certified Network Professional and Architect (SCNP and SCNA) exams, as well as Microsoft exams.
     
  • Linux: Students prepare for Red Hat and Microsoft exams.
     
  • Cisco: Students prepare for the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) designation, along with Microsoft exams.
