I.T. Grad Shares On-the-Job Wisdom

Javier Ortiz, Help Desk Assistant, Redwood Toxicology

Javier Ortiz was recently a guest speaker for the Empire College I.T. Department. Javier is a graduate of Empire who now has a job as a Help Desk Assistant at Redwood Toxicology in Santa Rosa. Javier came to Empire College straight out of high school and graduated in the I.T. security program. Javier stressed that there is a big learning curve on the job and that his classes here at Empire College helped prepare him tremendously, especially the concepts in computer hardware and Network+ classes. One of the biggest challenges of his job is dealing with people.

Paralegal Students Go to Court

Empire College paralegal students

Paralegal students in the Civil Litigation and Advanced Legal Research and Writing classes will be attending a trial today. It is being held next door at the Civil and Family Law Courthouse. (It is great that Empire College is so connected with the legal community and courts - literally with respect to the latter since two of the Sonoma County Superior Courtrooms are located in our building!).
